Don’t Panic. Trust the Process. All Will be Well.

by Judy Klipin

My mantra of  ‘Don’t Panic. Trust the Process.  All Will be Well’ is one I repeat often – to my coaching clients and to my clients who are coaches.

My coaching clients need to hear it because often the discomfort that they experience when they start to make changes in their lives (what I call “change pain”) can be frightening and make them want to give up just when they start to make progress.   It sometimes feels easier to go back to how they were rather than moving forward into unchartered waters.

And my clients who are coaches need to hear it because setting up a coaching practice can be much harder than you are led to believe as a new coach.  There may be many setbacks, disappointments, and stumbling blocks along the way.  And that isn’t even taking into account the fear and anxiety that accompanies new and inexperienced coaches who are being let into their client’s lives and dreams…

But the coaching process is alchemy in action.  We sometimes (ok, lets be honest, often) forget this and try to make a process happen instead of letting the magic unfold on its own.

It is always when we are most unsure of what to do or where to go next that way becomes clear – if we allow it to.  All the ‘where to next’ work gets done for us.  Not because we have cast a spell, or waved a wand, or done anything active.

All we have to do is what we do best – listen to our clients and our intuition, provide some tools for the client to use, let them know that we trust them to find their way – and the process takes care of the rest.

So, whether you are a client caught up in the change pain of progress, or a coach caught up in the change pain of a new role, remember and repeat:

Don’t Panic.  Trust the Process.  All Will be Well.

Feeling overwhelmed in your life, work or relationships?
