…Grow Back in the Hurt Places

I chose a Starfish (or Sea Star) as the symbol for the work that I do because they have regenerative properties; if they lose a limb they grow another in its place.  Just like every client I have ever worked with.  Just like you.

We all grow back in the hurt places and we come back stronger and more resilient than we could ever imagine.

…Go with the flow

Sometimes, particularly when we are feeling overwhelmed or out of our depth, we try to regain a sense of order by trying to control things.

All things.

Even the things we have absolutely no control (or even influence) over.

Which makes us feel more overwhelmed and even less in control.

It is a horrible, vicious cycle that feeds off of itself.

The sooner you give up the illusion of control, the sooner you will be able to relax into enjoying your life.

…Give Yourself a Break

Nobody is perfect.  No-one gets everything right all the time.  Not even you.

Allow yourself to make mistakes. To need help.  To lose your temper.  To be sad.  Allow yourself to be who you really are – perfectly imperfect!

…Grown-Up

Sometimes it can be hard to feel like an adult– like a grown-up in charge of your own destiny.  When you are stressed, or tired, or anxious, it is easy to feel like a scared, vulnerable child.  Which can lead to acting like a scared, vulnerable child.  You may feel out of control and anxious.  Or behave in not very mature ways.  Or make impulsive and not necessarily productive choices.

The easiest and fastest way to get back into grown-up is to consciously shift back into an adult state.  Think and act as your adult role model would and you will start to feel all grown-up again.

…Gratitude

It is cheesy I know, but it’s also true; having a regular gratitude practice helps to make you happier and to appreciate your life and all that is in it more.  Every day, consciously identify three or four things that you are grateful for.  It works for Oprah!
