T is for…Tell yourself the truth

by Judy Klipin

We are often too scared to try something new.  We fear failure, humiliation, disappointment, loss. So we play it safe and do what we have always done.

Every now and then we take a risk and try something new or different.  And sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

And sometimes it works for a while and then it doesn’t anymore.

Sometimes we keep trying even though we are not getting the results we anticipated and hoped for.  We can get into a space of ‘throwing good money after bad’ and keep putting effort and energy into something that is never going to be what we want it to be or has stopped being what it once was.

We don’t see the truth.

This may be true of relationships, diets, exercise regimes….any number of projects.

This is certainly true of this ABCs of coaching series I started so many months ago.  It seemed like a good idea when I started it.  I enjoyed it at first, and wrote some nice posts that resonated with me and with others.

But the truth is that it has become a bit of a chore.  It is not as enjoyable or as rewarding as it was.  And it feels as though it is getting in the way of me writing about other things.

SO.

I give myself permission to make a new choice, and to write about other things.

If I decide to revisit the last seven letters at some point in the future I will, but in the meantime I am going to allow myself to do what feels right and fun.

I told myself the truth.  And, as promised, it set me free!
