One Small Step…

One Small Step...

by Judy Klipin

Welcome to 2021.

Usually I would be wishing you a happy new year in the first newsletter of the year. However, as 2021 seems so far to be a continuation of all that is unusual, abnormal and unpredictable, I am merely going to congratulate you for still being here, showing up and getting on with things.

With the second wave, the new strain and the increased restrictions placed on most of the world, many of us are feeling as though we are “back to square one” in terms of our progress towards a place of peace, calm and health. It’s frustrating, scary, disappointing and a-whole-lot-of-other-not-nice-feelings. This time, though, the hope and promise of vaccines is shining a light at the end of the long and dark tunnel that we have been journeying through. If we keep on keeping on, we will get to the other side!

It may feel undoable, but it can be done. We are resourceful, resilient and creative. We just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other and we will get there.

When it seems as though (largely because it is) the world is going crazy and things are unpredictable and inconsistent, the best thing we can do for ourselves is create some sense of predictability and consistency – one step at a time – in the worlds of our own. There are many ways to do this but one of the simplest and most sustainable is to choose one (yes, just one) thing to do every day that helps you to feel more in control of your life and destiny. As ridiculously easy as it sounds, one consistent helpful habit can set you on a road to calm.

Here are some of the things my clients (and I) do every day to help feel more in control when things seem to be falling apart:

  • Go for a walk
  • Pray/meditate/write the Morning pages
  • Have a nap
  • Eat an apple
  • Drink 8 glasses of water
  • Spend 5-10 minutes in peace and quiet
  • Answer the 3 questions
  • Get some fresh air and sunshine
  • Have a good breakfast
  • Make your bed as soon as you get out of it in the morning

Choosing just one thing may feel like a small step for mankind, but it will be a giant step for you!

If you need some help, or would like some company, while you think about how best to support yourself in the coming months, I’d love to have you at my virtual workshop – Plan to Spend Your Energy Wisely – on 30 January.

I’d love to know what giant step you will be taking for yourself and your well-being – please send me a message.

Yours, putting one foot in front of the other,
Judy xx

PS. Keep reading for information on how I can support you through the first few months of the year.

Plan to Spend Your Energy Wisely Workshops

The workshop is designed to support you to be mindful and compassionate with yourself and to help you use your time and energy as efficiently and effectively as you can, by offering simple solutions to everyday challenges.

This year’s workshop will be run virtually. And because we are all in danger of Zoom-fatigue and computer-induced-burnout, I have condensed the workshop into 4 hours, and will be offering it over two time slots so you can participate no matter where in the world you are.

We will meet in the Zoom room for plenary inputs and discussions and there will be time for individual work and exercises – and to grab a cuppa and a snack.

Spaces are limited. You can book yours here.

Covid Support Groups (for teams or for individuals)

“I’ve learnt some useful tools for coping with the demands that this year has brought upon us.”

“I am glad that we were able to have these sessions this year. It really made a difference to many of the staff at quite a difficult time.”

I will be continuing the Covid Support Groups that I offered last year to teams and individuals. The weekly or fortnightly sessions are helpful in keeping team members connected, providing simple and effective coaching tools to build resilience, and providing a sense of community; particularly important for people experiencing professional and personal isolation.

Get in touch if you’d like to chat about bringing the groups to your team.

Smash Your Own Glass Ceiling Programme

I’m in the early stages of designing a coaching programme to help people identify and overcome whatever is stopping them from reaching their potential and enjoying the success they deserve. This programme will help you to get out of your own way and smash through to new heights in work, love and life. Let me know you’d like to be on the early invitation list! Also, please get in touch if you have suggestions for what should be included; what would serve you best?

  • “I have seen various psychologists and therapists but none of them have the skill of Judy in being able to relate to me and the way I think about things.” Emma, Durban
  • “Judy, you have given me the tools to change and move my life in directions I never knew possible. I am truly grateful for your help.” Anisha, London
  • “Perception is everything and working with Judy has helped me realise my true potential by changing my outlook of life into more positive ones. I enjoy walking out of a life coaching session feeling like I am in control again, less stressed and more energetic.” P.R.M.
  • “Judy is my go-to person when I find myself uncertain about how to interpret the signposts in my life. Her insights and ability to draw out what lies deepest inside have helped provide clarity and integrity at pivotal life moments over many years.” B.H.
  • “I’d recommend Judy to anyone who’s feeling stuck, weary, confused, discouraged, uncertain, in need of support – basically, I’d recommend her to any carbon-based life form that breathes oxygen and would like to have a wonderful life.” Martha Beck
