Resurrect Your Dreams

by Judy Klipin

In the early days of my being a coach I had a conversation with Martha Beck about what I wanted to do with my coaching. I hummed and ha-ed and spluttered and mumbled and talked around in circles for a while (it was my first real, individual conversation with her and I was completely overwhelmed by enormity of it all). To my mind I was completely incoherent. But Martha listened to me patiently and, after I had ground to a rather inelegant halt, responded, “So you want to help your clients resurrect the dreams they gave away.”

Well, yes.

That is exactly what I wanted to do with my coaching.

We all have dreams that we have given away. Dreams about the kind of life we want to live, the kind of love we want to experience, the kind of work we want to do, the places we want to see, the experiences we want to have …

Some of us had to give up on our dreams because we are adult children and started taking on grown up responsibilities when we were tiny. Some of us have given up on dreams of stardom and fame in order to feed our children. Most of us have put aside some dreams because life happens.

Over the years I have developed all sorts of programmes and processes, written a book, offered workshops, trained coaches, and much more besides. And still, underneath it all, I want to help my clients resurrect the dreams they gave away. Every coaching intervention I offer, be it with individuals or groups, in person or virtually, has the resurrection of dreams as an underlying theme.

It doesn’t matter what your dreams are or why those dreams were abandoned – I want to help you resurrect and achieve them.

We’ve just passed the September Equinox, experienced a Full Blood SuperMoon Lunar Eclipse, and entered the last quarter of this calendar year. (And Mercury if also Retrograde for those of us who buy into the drama and upheaval that accompanies these periods.) It seems to me that it is a very appropriate time to be celebrating dreams that have come true and thinking about resurrecting dreams that have been abandoned.

What dreams have come true for you? How did you make then happen? Take a few moments to celebrate yourself for the dreams that you have made come true.

What dreams had to be put on hold? Without judgement, and with compassion, try to remember why you put some of your dreams aside. What was going on when you suspended each dream? How is your life different now? Is it possible to resurrect some dreams and work towards achieving them?
