B is For Be…

…Here Now

Being present in the moment is one of the biggest presents you an give yourself.  We spend a lot of time, energy and effort imaging what could be or remembering (or regretting) what was.

I understand that thinking about what could happen can make us feel that we won’t be taken by surprise; that whatever happens, we will be able to handle it.  I also understand, and support, the value in learning from past mistakes in order to avoid repeating them.  But the more attention we pay to things that we no longer have influence over, or do not yet have influence over, the less attention we can pay on what we DO have influence over – the here and now!

…Happy

You are allowed to be happy, you know.   Do more of what you love and less of what you don’t.  Spend more time with people who make you feel good and less with people who don’t. When you are happy you make the people who love you happy too, so if you can’t do it for yourself do it for them.

…Mindful

Pay attention to the thoughts you think, the choices you make and the actions you take.  When you are mindful about your thoughts, decisions and behaviour you can ensure that you are moving towards the goals and achievements you have chosen for yourself.

…Vulnerable

As soon as we stop trying to be superhuman, we can start to be human.  When you ask for help, or are honest about how you feel, when you take a risk, you are allowing yourself to be human.  You are allowing yourself to be…

…Yourself

You know who you are.  You know what makes you happy, what makes you sad, what works for you, what doesn’t.  You know what you are good at and what you find interesting.  Don’t listen to anyone who thinks they know what is best for you – only listen to yourself.  Because you know yourself best.

…Prepared

For the magic that starts to unfold when you listen to yourself.  When you grow yourself.  When you give yourself permission to make new choices.  When you allow the happiness to unfold.
